  1. Behind the Scenes on Show Day

    Monday, December 20, 2021

The morning of the winter comedy show I was having at The Artist on City Island, I heard my cell phone receiving a text.  I hoped that wasn’t anyone cancelling.  I went back to sleep.  I’d been trying to get rid of a cold for about five days, but it was still with me.

Later I checked my text and saw it was from my friend Mindy Levokove wishing me well with my cold and the show.  I was relieved.

Showered, dressed, went to the store, and then worked on a bit of COVID material for the show.  I was doing okay.  Went on Facebook and saw I had a voice message from one of the comics.  He just learned that a few days earlier he was exposed to COVID.  He didn’t want to chance coming and infecting anyone though he felt fine.  We were both disappointed but knew he was doing the right thing.

I offered the spot to a comic living in the Bronx and who has a car.  She wasn’t up for it.  Time was passing.  Then I realized that the other comics in the show probably have lots more material than I originally asked them to do, so I asked them to do more time.  Both obliged.  The show was very good.

I thank D.C.’s funniest tax accountant Ken Watter and the Bronx’s rising star Debbie Bazza for doing a great job!

The audience grew since the last show which I felt good about.  We even had a couple who had never been there before.  They found out about the show from the internet.  They were happy with the evening as was everyone.  Before the pandemic, we were able to pack the place.

Several friends of mine were amongst those who attended.  We went to a bar after the show, and they shared their opinions.  It was unanimous – they enjoyed it very much.

Due to my cold, I kept my mask on at the mic and used a separate mic from the others.  I hope so much that we, as a world, will get past this pandemic.

Good news:  The comic, who had to cancel, tested negative for COVID!

On another positive note:  The mouse in my house is gone!  My darling buddy Bob got rid of it for me.  Thank you, Bob, for being my hero!  Tomorrow’s my birthday, and I don’t have any uninvited creature running around in my apartment.  That’s a good start.  😊

    Happy holidays everyone!

So much love to CGG-M ❤❤❤

Dearest Mindy, we have many birthdays days but this is a special one...Happy 65th darling😊. May you reflect back only "on the good" and now that you are a very good person. Remember that you tried to be the "best you" always. Remember to be forgiving. In forgiveness we release ourselves from those who we'd rather not EVER remember. In love we embrace all those who we always remember. Remember that you have touched many hearts and you are love by many, near and far...of which I am one. Feliz Cumpleaños me querida amiga. Amor, bendiciones y fuertes abrazos, Susy/Melinda
